Orks: Big Mek - Warhammer 40,000
PARAMETERS:
Orks: Big Mek is an imposing greenskin engineer equipped with a bionik exoskeleton, teleporting shokk-boosta harness and a selection of powerful kustom weapons.
Product description
Add one of the most inventive and heavily equipped Ork specialists to your Warhammer 40,000 collection with the Big Mek.
Big Meks are master engineers responsible for constructing the bizarre weapons, unstable machines and experimental devices used by Ork armies. They frequently carry their most dangerous inventions into battle, eager to discover how much destruction they can cause.
This detailed character miniature depicts a Big Mek supported by a powerful bionik exoskeleton. The mechanical harness allows the hulking greenskin to carry oversized weapons, tools and teleportation equipment that would overwhelm an ordinary Ork.
Teleporting shokk-boosta harness
The Big Mek is fitted with a shokk-boosta harness capable of tearing temporary openings through the fabric of reality.
The equipment is represented by a dense arrangement of cables, mechanical plates, power systems and unstable Ork technology attached to the character's back.
This elaborate machinery gives the miniature a distinctive silhouette and reinforces the Big Mek's role as an engineer who treats the laws of physics as little more than inconvenient suggestions.
Kustom ranged weapons
The shooting side of the exoskeleton can be equipped with either a kustom mega-blasta or a traktor blasta.
The kustom mega-blasta has the appearance of an unstable energy weapon assembled from heavy coils, cables and roughly connected mechanical components.
The alternative traktor blasta uses crude Ork technology to create a different weapon profile, adding further visual variety to the completed character.
Both alternatives use shared mounting components, so only one complete ranged weapon can be assembled from the kit.
Brutal close-combat equipment
The other mechanical arm can carry either a power klaw or a drilla.
The power klaw features massive hydraulic fingers suited to crushing armour, machinery and unfortunate opponents. The alternative drilla gives the Big Mek an even more mechanical appearance, with a large rotating tool designed to tear through resistant targets.
Only one complete close-combat weapon can be assembled from the supplied shared components.
Detailed Ork engineer
The miniature is covered with mechanical gubbins, tools, wires, armour plates and roughly constructed technological components.
Two different heads are included, allowing the character's expression and overall appearance to be varied during assembly.
The Big Mek also wears a torn workshop apron filled with tools, suggesting that the engineer has entered battle directly from a cluttered Ork workshop.
Rewarding painting project
The model combines green skin, leather, cloth, armour plates, cables, pistons, tools and energy weapons.
These surfaces provide excellent opportunities for painting rusty metal, chipped Clan colours, oil stains, scorch marks, glowing weapon coils and exposed mechanical components.
The large 50mm base provides additional space for workshop debris, discarded tools, broken machinery, scrap metal or battlefield wreckage.
Background
Big Meks are the largest and most influential members of the Ork Mekboy caste.
They possess an instinctive understanding of machinery and can construct weapons, vehicles and technological devices without formal plans or conventional engineering knowledge.
Their creations often appear crude and dangerously unstable, yet they function through a combination of natural greenskin talent, improvised construction and the collective technological instincts of the Ork species.
A successful Big Mek may command workshops filled with lesser Meks and Gretchin assistants, supplying an entire Waaagh! with vehicles, weapons and experimental inventions.
When battle begins, many Big Meks personally test their favourite creations, unleashing destructive energy, mechanical violence and unpredictable technological effects upon the enemy.
