Orks: Kill Rig - Warhammer 40,000
PARAMETERS:
Orks: Kill Rig is a massive Beast Snagga war platform pulled into battle by a towering tramplasquig and loaded with warriors, weapons and unstable Ork technology.
Product description
Add a spectacular centrepiece to your Ork army with the Kill Rig, a mobile fortress that combines a huge squig, a ramshackle transport platform and an alarming collection of ranged and close-combat weapons.
The vehicle is pulled across the battlefield by a muscular tramplasquig, while Beast Snagga warriors crowd onto the wooden and metal platforms mounted behind it.
A Wurrboy occupies the elevated wurrtower, directing the strange Waaagh!-powered energy generated by the machine while the remaining crew operate its weapons and prepare to attack anything unfortunate enough to stand in the way.
Kill Rig configuration
The Kill Rig configuration includes the elevated wurrtower and its Wurrboy, creating the appearance of a mobile command post powered by Ork psychic energy.
The model is equipped with an 'eavy lobba, stikka kannon and numerous brutal close-combat components. The combination of crude artillery, hunting weapons and the enormous tramplasquig makes it one of the most visually distinctive vehicles available to an Ork army.
The different weapon platforms and crew positions can be mounted in several locations, allowing the finished model to be personalised during assembly.
Alternative Hunta Rig build
The same kit can alternatively be assembled as a Hunta Rig, a large transport platform used by Beast Snaggas to carry warriors directly into battle.
When this configuration is selected, the Wurrboy can be built as a separate miniature rather than being permanently positioned on the vehicle.
The Kill Rig and Hunta Rig use shared structural components, so only one complete vehicle configuration can be assembled from the contents of the box.
Tramplasquig and crew
The vehicle is pulled by an enormous tramplasquig with powerful limbs, a huge jaw and layers of harness equipment secured around its body.
The creature is surrounded by Beast Snagga crew members operating weapons, steering the platform and preparing for close combat.
The contrast between the organic form of the squig and the rough wooden platforms, scrap-metal armour and mechanical components creates a highly varied and characterful miniature.
Ramshackle Ork construction
The Kill Rig is assembled from irregular armour plates, timber, chains, ropes, trophies, crude machinery and improvised weapon systems.
Nothing appears symmetrical or carefully engineered. Every surface looks modified, repaired or reinforced according to the immediate needs of the Orks operating it.
This chaotic construction gives the model excellent conversion potential and makes additional glyphs, armour plates, trophies and spare Ork parts look entirely appropriate.
Impressive painting project
The model offers a huge variety of textures, including squig skin, muscle, teeth, horns, leather, wood, rope, rusted metal and chipped armour.
The vehicle can be painted in bright Clan colours or given a heavily weathered appearance with rust, mud, dust, soot, blood and battle damage.
The large Citadel 170mm Oval Base provides ample space for scenic elements such as rocks, ruined structures, vegetation, discarded equipment or crushed enemy models.
Background
Kill Rigs are enormous Beast Snagga war machines pulled into battle by tramplasquigs and packed with rowdy Ork warriors.
At the rear of the platform, a Wurrboy channels the power of the Waaagh! through the wurrtower, projecting destructive blasts of raw Ork energy at enemy formations.
The crew support these attacks with crude artillery and hunting weapons while the tramplasquig charges directly into vehicles, infantry and defensive positions.
Some Beast Snagga mobs remove the wurrtower and convert the platform into a Hunta Rig, creating additional space for warriors who prefer to reach the enemy as quickly as possible.
Both configurations embody the Ork belief that the best war machine is large, loud, overloaded with weapons and pulled by an even larger squig.
