Orks: Runtherd and Gretchin - Warhammer 40,000
PARAMETERS:
Orks: Runtherd and Gretchin contains ten small but characterful greenskins led by a larger Ork handler equipped to keep the unruly mob under control.
Product description
Add a horde of mischievous Gretchin to your Ork army with this classic multipart plastic set for Warhammer 40,000.
The box builds ten Gretchin and one Ork Runtherd. The Gretchin carry crude firearms and assorted scavenged equipment, while their much larger handler watches over the mob with the tools needed to maintain a basic level of discipline.
The set includes twelve different Gretchin heads and two Runtherd head options, allowing the models to be assembled with a varied and chaotic appearance.
Ten characterful Gretchin
Gretchin are smaller, weaker and considerably less confident than Orks, but they are also cunning survivors with an instinct for theft, sabotage and avoiding unnecessary danger.
The ten miniatures feature varied poses, expressive faces, crude weapons and mismatched equipment. Their small size and individual personalities create a lively unit that stands apart from the larger Ork Boyz and Nobz in a greenskin collection.
The different heads can be distributed throughout the mob to ensure that the models do not all look identical.
Ork Runtherd
The Runtherd is a larger Ork responsible for controlling the Gretchin and directing them towards useful tasks.
The model features a more imposing stance, heavier equipment and the crude tools associated with Ork handlers.
Two alternative head designs are included, allowing the Runtherd to be given a slightly different expression and appearance during assembly.
Detailed greenskin design
The Gretchin miniatures combine ragged clothing, oversized weapons, pouches, straps and scavenged equipment.
The Runtherd adds larger armour plates, muscular anatomy, rough mechanical details and practical Ork tools to the unit.
These varied surfaces provide excellent opportunities for painting green skin, worn cloth, rusty metal, leather, chipped armour and bright Clan colours.
Useful conversion parts
The different Gretchin heads and small accessories can also be useful for personalising Ork vehicles, artillery crews, scenic bases and larger conversion projects.
Gretchin are commonly seen repairing machinery, carrying ammunition and assisting larger Orks, making the spare parts suitable for a wide range of greenskin-themed models.
Background
Gretchin occupy the lowest levels of Ork society and are regularly forced to perform the dangerous, unpleasant or boring jobs that larger greenskins refuse to do.
They carry ammunition, repair machinery, clear obstacles and follow Ork mobs into battle, usually while trying to remain as far away from enemy fire as possible.
Runtherds maintain control through intimidation, threats and physical punishment, forcing the reluctant Gretchin to move in roughly the correct direction.
Although individually unimpressive, a large group of Gretchin can still cause trouble through sheer numbers, unexpected cunning and a complete lack of respect for anyone else's property.
