T'au Empire: Hammerhead Gunship - Warhammer 40,000
PARAMETERS:
T'au Empire: Hammerhead Gunship is a sleek anti-gravity combat vehicle that can alternatively be assembled as a missile-equipped Sky Ray Gunship.
Product description
Bring powerful mobile fire support to your T'au Empire collection with the Hammerhead Gunship, an iconic armoured vehicle combining advanced targeting technology, heavy weaponry and the elegant lines of T'au anti-gravity engineering.
The vehicle features a broad armoured hull with a laterally extended nose, curved panels and two vectored engines. Its clean technological design makes it immediately recognisable as part of the T'au Empire range.
The kit can be assembled as either a Hammerhead Gunship or a Sky Ray Gunship. Both vehicles use the same main hull and shared components, so only one complete model can be built from the contents of the box.
Hammerhead Gunship
The Hammerhead configuration carries a large turret-mounted weapon that can be assembled with either a railgun or an ion cannon.
The railgun creates a long and imposing silhouette, emphasising the vehicle's role as a precision heavy weapons platform. The alternative ion cannon has a more compact design built around advanced T'au energy technology.
The turret can be positioned in different directions, allowing the completed vehicle to appear as though it is tracking an enemy target or covering an approaching formation.
The forward weapon mounts can be equipped with burst cannons or smart missile systems. A pair of seeker missiles is also included as an optional addition to the vehicle.
Sky Ray Gunship
The same kit can alternatively be assembled as a Sky Ray Gunship, replacing the Hammerhead's main turret with a specialised missile system.
This configuration gives the vehicle a noticeably different upper silhouette while preserving the smooth hull, anti-gravity engines and advanced sensor systems of the T'au design.
The Sky Ray is an excellent choice for collectors who prefer a missile-focused support vehicle or wish to add more visual variety to a mechanised T'au Empire force.
Advanced anti-gravity design
The Hammerhead and Sky Ray are built around the same sleek grav-tank chassis used by several T'au Empire vehicles.
Two vectored engines are mounted on the sides of the hull and can be tilted to different angles. This allows the vehicle to be given a level cruising appearance or a more dynamic pose suggesting a rapid turn or change of altitude.
The curved armour panels, recessed mechanical details and compact weapon mounts create a sophisticated visual style that contrasts with the heavy tracked vehicles used by many other armies in Warhammer 40,000.
Detailed vehicle miniature
The kit features broad armour surfaces, engine vents, sensor equipment, weapon systems and finely sculpted mechanical details.
Its large panels are ideal for clean Sept colour schemes, camouflage patterns, transfers, edge highlights and carefully applied battle damage.
The included T'au Empire transfer sheet can be used to add faction symbols, identification markings and additional details to the completed vehicle.
Background
Hammerhead Gunships provide the Fire Caste with fast and heavily armed mobile support. Their anti-gravity systems allow them to cross difficult terrain while maintaining a stable firing platform for their main weapons.
The Hammerhead combines the proven T'au grav-tank chassis with powerful long-range weaponry, enabling it to engage armoured vehicles, fortified positions and other priority targets.
The related Sky Ray Gunship is configured around missile systems and advanced target acquisition technology, supporting T'au forces with precise ranged attacks.
Both vehicles represent the T'au Empire's preference for mobility, technological superiority and carefully coordinated firepower in service of the Greater Good.
