Product description
Custodian Guard stand among the most recognisable warriors of the Adeptus Custodes. They defend the Emperor, the Imperial Palace and locations of immeasurable strategic importance, meeting every threat with master-crafted weapons and centuries of accumulated combat experience.

This multipart plastic kit builds an elite infantry unit for an Adeptus Custodes army in Warhammer 40,000. The miniatures can be equipped with iconic guardian spears or armed with sentinel blades and imposing praesidium shields.

The set also includes components for creating a distinctive Shield-Captain and a warrior carrying a Custodes vexilla. These optional builds allow the kit to provide both the disciplined core of a shield host and visually striking command models.

Custodian Guard
Every Custodian is an individually crafted warrior rather than a conventional rank-and-file soldier. Each member of the Guard possesses extraordinary strength, speed, intelligence and tactical awareness, allowing even a small group to confront threats that would overwhelm ordinary Imperial troops.

The miniatures reflect this elite character through their towering proportions, heavily decorated armour and confident poses. Sculpted Imperial eagles, lightning bolts, gemstones and elaborate filigree cover the armour, while tall helmet plumes create the unmistakable silhouette of the Ten Thousand.

The unit can be assembled with a consistent weapon configuration or personalised to create visual variety across the squad. Whichever option you select, the completed models retain the ceremonial splendour and controlled aggression associated with the Adeptus Custodes.

Guardian spears
Guardian spears are among the signature weapons of the Adeptus Custodes. Each combines a long power blade with an integrated ranged weapon, creating an armament suited to warriors expected to master every distance of combat.

The long shafts and broad blades give the models a tall, imposing profile. A unit equipped with guardian spears creates the classic appearance of a Custodian formation advancing in perfect order, ready to deliver precise fire before engaging the enemy at close range.

The weapons feature a combination of ornate decoration and mechanical components. Their blades, casings, power systems and engraved surfaces provide painters with numerous opportunities to introduce contrasting metallic finishes and faction colours.

Sentinel blades and praesidium shields
The models can alternatively carry sentinel blades paired with praesidium shields. This combination gives the unit a more defensive and heavily protected appearance while preserving the elegant visual style of the Adeptus Custodes.

Each sentinel blade combines a compact power weapon with an integrated ranged component. The shorter weapon allows the model to carry a large shield without losing the advanced weapon technology associated with the Ten Thousand.

Praesidium shields are decorated with sculpted Imperial symbols, raised borders and prominent gemstones. Their broad surfaces make them natural focal points for painting, weathering and freehand decoration.

Guardian spears and sentinel blade with shield combinations are alternative assembly choices. The same models and arm components are used for these configurations, so every possible weapon version cannot be built simultaneously from one box.

Optional Shield-Captain
One of the included models can alternatively be assembled as a Shield-Captain, a proven commander selected from among the already exceptional warriors of the Adeptus Custodes.

The Shield-Captain can be distinguished by a flowing cloak and a choice of two head options. These dedicated components give the commander a more individual and authoritative appearance while remaining visually connected to the rest of the unit.

Building the Shield-Captain uses one of the bodies included in the set. It does not create an additional model beyond the total number of miniatures supplied in the box.

The command variant is an excellent choice for collectors who want a leader matching the armour, weapons and overall aesthetic of their Custodian Guard.

Optional vexilla bearer
One model can also be assembled carrying an ornate Custodes vexilla. This ceremonial standard is decorated with Imperial symbols and acts as an impressive visual centrepiece within the unit.

The large vexilla provides a striking vertical element that contrasts with the guardian spears, sentinel blades and shields carried by the other warriors. Its broad decorative surfaces also provide excellent opportunities for metallic effects, rich colours and carefully picked-out details.

The vexilla bearer is an alternative construction that uses one of the included bodies. It cannot be assembled as an additional miniature beyond the models supplied in the kit.

Both the Shield-Captain and vexilla bearer options may be incorporated into the same set, but each selected specialist replaces one standard Custodian Guard model.

Flexible assembly options
The kit offers a strong selection of physical customisation choices. Weapon configurations, helmeted or uncovered appearances, command components and the ceremonial vexilla can be combined to create a unit suited to your collection.

You may choose a uniform appearance with matching weapons or introduce a mixture of poses and equipment to emphasise that every Custodian is an individual warrior with their own history, honours and preferred method of battle.

Because the alternative builds share the same bodies and arm components, planning the composition of the unit before applying glue is recommended. A single set cannot produce every command and weapon configuration at the same time.

Detailed armour and painting opportunities
Custodian Guard miniatures are covered with the elaborate details that define the Adeptus Custodes range. Layered armour plates, Imperial eagles, lightning motifs, gemstones, weapon mechanisms and flowing plumes provide a varied and rewarding painting project.

The large armour surfaces are ideal for rich gold tones, metallic shading, controlled washes and bright edge highlights. Painters may create a highly polished ceremonial appearance or add scratches, dust and heat discolouration to represent warriors returning from a demanding campaign.

Helmet plumes, cloaks, weapon casings and leather elements provide natural areas for contrasting colours. Deep red is traditionally associated with the golden host, but alternative colours can be used to represent a chosen Shield Host or a personal collection theme.

The praesidium shields offer particularly large decorative surfaces. Their sculpted eagles, borders and gemstones can be highlighted individually, while subtle battle damage can help communicate the immense conflicts survived by their bearers.

The Custodes vexilla provides another impressive focal point. Its layered ornaments and Imperial iconography reward careful brushwork and help the completed unit stand out in a display cabinet or on the tabletop.
