Product description
Vertus Praetors are veteran Custodians selected for their extraordinary skill as jetbike riders. Sweeping across the battlefield aboard Dawneagle jetbikes, they combine the speed of an advanced Imperial vehicle with the strength, discipline and master-crafted weapons of the Emperor's personal guardians.

This multipart plastic kit builds three Vertus Praetors for an Adeptus Custodes army. Each warrior is mounted on an ornate Dawneagle jetbike and carries an interceptor lance, creating a unit with a distinctive silhouette and a powerful sense of forward movement.

The set can be assembled as three standard Vertus Praetors or with one model built as a Shield-Captain on Dawneagle Jetbike. The Shield-Captain is an alternative build that uses one of the three included riders, so it does not create an additional fourth miniature.

Vertus Praetors
The riders wear a lighter variation of Custodian armour designed to preserve their freedom of movement while piloting their jetbikes at extreme speed. Auramite chest plates, shoulder guards and helmets protect the warriors, while robes, woven trousers and reinforced boots complete their distinctive appearance.

Every armour surface is decorated with the elaborate symbols associated with the Adeptus Custodes. Imperial eagles, lightning bolts, gemstones and fine filigree mark each rider as a member of the Emperor's golden host.

The Praetors carry interceptor lances and misericordia. Their long lances reinforce the fast-moving character of the unit and make the completed models appear ready to strike as they surge over the battlefield.

Dawneagle jetbikes
Dawneagle jetbikes are advanced machines constructed using technologies unavailable to the wider armies of the Imperium. Their aggressive profiles, powerful engines and heavily decorated armour panels create a fitting mount for the elite warriors of the Adeptus Custodes.

The front cowling of each jetbike is sculpted with Imperial ornamentation that matches the armour of its rider. Mechanical components, weapon feeds and sections of the engine remain visible through openings in the bodywork, giving the vehicles a convincing combination of ceremonial splendour and advanced machinery.

The control area includes a large display accompanied by numerous buttons and instruments. These smaller details provide additional painting opportunities and help communicate the sophisticated nature of the Dawneagle jetbike.

Jetbike weapon options
Each Dawneagle jetbike can be equipped with either a hurricane bolter or a salvo launcher. Both weapons are mounted prominently in the front of the vehicle and give the jetbikes a different visual character.

The hurricane bolters create the appearance of a rapid-firing weapon system integrated into the cowling. The larger salvo launchers provide a heavier profile and emphasise the powerful strike capability of the unit.

These are alternative construction options. A single jetbike cannot be assembled with both weapon systems simultaneously, so it is worth deciding on the preferred configuration before applying glue.

Optional Shield-Captain on Dawneagle Jetbike
One of the three riders can alternatively be assembled as a Shield-Captain on Dawneagle Jetbike. This experienced commander leads the golden host from the front, using the speed of the Dawneagle to respond rapidly to threats and direct the attack from a commanding position.

The Shield-Captain is distinguished by a bare head, setting the commander apart from the helmeted Vertus Praetors. This build uses one of the three available riders and jetbikes.

When the Shield-Captain option is selected, the set builds one Shield-Captain on Dawneagle Jetbike and two standard Vertus Praetors. It is not possible to build the Shield-Captain in addition to three standard Praetors from one box.

Personalisation and assembly
The detailed riders and jetbikes provide opportunities to create a coherent unit while giving each model subtle individual features. Helmet plumes, armour decoration, weapon choices and the optional Shield-Captain build can be used to vary the appearance of the squad.

The hurricane bolters and salvo launchers use the same mounting areas on the Dawneagle jetbikes. Only one weapon option can be selected for each completed model.

Planning the final composition before assembly is recommended, particularly when deciding whether to include the Shield-Captain and which jetbike weapons to install.

Painting opportunities
Vertus Praetors offer an impressive project for painters who enjoy combining armour, machinery and decorative details. The large auramite panels on the riders and jetbikes are ideal for metallic colours, layered shading, bright highlights and weathering effects.

The sculpted eagles, lightning symbols, gemstones and filigree can be picked out to emphasise the ceremonial appearance of the unit. Helmet plumes, robes and weapon casings provide contrasting areas for red, black, white or colours associated with a chosen Shield Host.

The visible engines, weapon feeds, control screens and mechanical components allow painters to introduce darker metallic tones, heat staining, glowing displays and other technological effects.

The flying stems create the impression that the Dawneagle jetbikes are sweeping above the battlefield. Their oval bases provide space for Imperial ruins, marble floors, rocky ground, industrial debris or other scenic elements.

Background
The Adeptus Custodes are the personal guardians of the Emperor of Mankind. Each Custodian is individually created and trained to a standard far beyond that of an ordinary Imperial warrior, becoming a master of combat, strategy and independent action.

Vertus Praetors are counted among the most skilled riders of the Ten Thousand. They pilot their Dawneagle jetbikes with extraordinary precision, moving through hostile fire and broken terrain at speeds that would overwhelm lesser warriors.

These airborne hunters can rapidly close the distance to an important target, sweep around an enemy formation or reinforce a critical position. Their speed does not come at the cost of the strength and durability expected of the Adeptus Custodes.

Their interceptor lances and advanced jetbike weapons allow the Praetors to embody the controlled aggression of the golden host. They do not race into battle recklessly, but strike where their presence can have the greatest effect.
